Guwahati: Nine days after his arrival in India from Tokyo, Boxer Star Lovlina Borghain met him, Mamoni Borghain at his home in Baro Mukhia Village in the upper Golaghat district on Tuesday.
Mamoni Borghain could not welcome his daughter at Lokpriya International Airport Gopinath Bordoloi last Thursday because he had just undergone kidney surgery and still recovering.
Lovlina visited the country only for one night to attend the Felicitation program organized by the state government that she could not go home.
He flew back to New Delhi the next morning for the Independence Day event, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with the Olympic medalist.
Lovlina landed at the airport, the airport closest to her home town, at 2:20 a.m.
MLA from Sarupathar Legislative Constituency Bisjang Phukan and Golaghat District Government welcomed it at the airport with gamosa (traditional assamese fabric), ‘JAPI’ (traditional headgear) and bouquets.
Some organizations, including all tribes of Assam Tea Soup (AATSA), the Boxing Association of Assam and from Nagaland welcomed Lovlina with ‘gamosa’ and other traditional items, including the headgear.
After spending around 15-20 minutes, he was taken to Barpathar in the vehicle of MLA Bisang Phukan.
Motorcycle riders escorted their vehicles to Barpathar and people stood on the roadside which showered the petals to greet him.
He was given a move by Golaghat District Administration, District Boxing Association, various organizations and civilians during the criminal program organized by the district administration in the BARPATHAR High School Park after which he returned home.
Meanwhile, Mother, Lovlina’s family member, and the people in his village passionately waited in his yard.
They all erupted in joy as soon as the vehicle reached the gate of his house.
He took a blessing and hugged his mother.
Both became emotional and share some thoughts in themselves as they met almost after one year.
“I patiently waited to meet my mother.
I can’t come to meet my mother even though I visited the state on Thursday.
Finally, I go home today.
But I’m sad because I have to fly to Lucknow on Wednesday again,” said An emotional lovlina.
