Jorhat: Kaziranga National Park Forest Staff and Tiger Reserve arrested someone from Hojai on Sunday because of his alleged involvement in the smuggling of rhinos in the park.
The person who was arrested was identified as MD Rahimuddin from the Nilbahan area in the Hojai district.
Two cases of trade in illegal rhinos horns were registered against Rahimuddin.
DFO from Division Wildlife Assam Timur, Kaziranga, Ramesh Kumar Gogoi, said, “Based on several inputs, forest staff launched the operation and caught the pirated rhinoceros from Nillagi.
Previously, he was arrested for a similar violation.” With this, the total number of smugglers of rhinoceros arrested By Kaziranga forest staff has reached 23 to date.
On July 3, two forest guards were arrested for the same violations in the range of garden bagori forests.
A piece of damaged rhinos horns was also found on them.
