Guwahati: City polls for 80 city boards will be held throughout Assam on March 6 with the issuance of election notices by the Assam State Election Commission on Wednesday, the election process has begun with direct enforcement model behavior model in the Municipal Board of each area.

The guidelines that were updated for Covid-19 management in city elections have been prepared based on ECI guidelines with input from the State Household Department and the State Disaster Management Agency.
“There will be 13 days for the poll campaign,” Kumar said at a press conference.
“The number of adequate EVMs has been available and all steps have been taken to ensure that polls are held smoothly with the help of these machines,” he said.
Kumar informed that liking in assembly polls and general elections, the selection of photo selection was also prepared for Urbal elections.
“In the voter list, photos with voter names are there.
This is to increase transparency and reliability,” he added.
About four years ago, 38 city committees in Assam were enhanced to the city board and all city councils now have at least 10 wards.
“The number of city wards from the city board has increased substantially.
The ward area remains small but the number increases.
The cities that used to have three to five wards, now have at least 10 wards,” Kumar said.
Only for Silchar Municipal Board (SMB), notifications have not been issued because the subject of election on SMB is sub-animation in the Gahati High Court.
There are 2,054 voting stations on the city board where selection will be held for 977 wards.
The maximum of 129 voting stations is dibrugarh where the highest 1.7 lakh voters are registered to use their franchise.
