Guwahati: More than RS 7.44 Crore has been collected as a penalty for violating different Covid-19 restrictions and protocols throughout Assam in 2020, the Government Assam told the State Assembly on Monday.
In a written reply to Mla Nurul Huda Congress, Head of Minister Himanta Buswa Sarma said the good amount reached Rs 7.44.38.100.
From here, the highest number of Rs 4.44 Crore was realized from people because they did not wear a mask, while the RS 215 Crore was paid as fine by those who had sanitary napkins on motorbikes, he said.
The state government has imposed Hospital 500 as a penalty because it does not wear a mask and ride a pillion on a motorcycle.
For violators the second time, the number is Rs 1,000.
The minister’s chairman added that all numbers have been stored in the treasury under the “tax on vehicle” category.
Last year, acting on P1L by senior advocate Tanmoy Jyoti Mahanta, a choudhury choudhury choustic division defeat from the Gautati High Court had ordered the hard action against those who violated Covid-19 safety norms by directing the state police “proactively on the streets” and punish those who do not wear masks or do not maintain social distance.
