Guwahati: The level of covid testing (TPR) and case numbers declined, but higher daily covid death continues to be a concern, most of the patients with comorbid conditions in Assam.
Daily Covid Death Increases in the State of January 23 when 13 deaths are reported in the state.
On January 24, the mortality rate rose to 18 and 19 on January 25.
Furthermore, it increased to 21 on Wednesday.
Both parents and young people with comorbidities become vulnerable even though the Covid-19 wave induced by Omicron is less severe, health experts say.
Seven highest deaths were reported in Kamrup (Metro) on Wednesday.
On Thursday, the death figure of the country also remained unchanged in the 20 covid deaths.
Director of Medical Education, Assam, Dr.
Anup Kumar Barman, told Ti that most Covid patients who died in the last few days were recognized when cases of high amounts were detected around nine to 10 days ago.
“We hope that the Daily Covid death will soon begin to decline.
The positive case has fallen down in the past few days.
But before that, the number of patients relatively high with comorbid conditions was accepted and many of them were in critical condition,” Barman said.
In the third wave since January 1, a total of 49 Covid fatality has been reported at the Medical College Hospital Gaeanda (GMCH) here.
GMCH supervisor Dr.
Abhijit Sarma told Ti that 49 cases, 43 had a commorbid condition.
“Most covid patients suffer from diabetes, hypertension, kidney failure, cancer and other comorbidities,” Sarma said.
He, however, noted that 12 of these 49 cases, only took the first dose or were not vaccinated at all.
However, the slight severity of Covid-19 in the third wave has been proven by statistics, health officials said.
While the mortality rate in the state during the first and second waves was 0.51% and 1.26%, the appropriate number in the third wave was 0.23%, Wednesday’s update said.
The Ministry of Health statistics stated that between January 1 and 25, a total of 84,088 Covid cases were detected at Assam and 195 lost their lives.
Even when death has not declined significantly, the level of peposititivity test gradually decreased and reached 8.28% on Thursday.
The highest, 768 cases, reported from Kamrup (Metro) Regency.
The country’s front level was 9.85% on Wednesday, although only 1,951 cases were detected on the same day mainly due to low testing which reached 19,803.
On Thursday, 3,677 positive cases were reported from all of Assam after 44,389 tests.
The state recovery rate increased slightly to 93.95% on Thursday.
