Guwahati: CM (SVC) specific vigilance cell on Tuesday arrested IPS officers, who are currently suspended, from his residence in Guwahati in cases of disproportionate assets.
Police arrested Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) Rounak Ali Hazarika after interrogation of more than five hours on Tuesday at his residence.
He was currently posted as Digp in the border wing of the Assam Police.
SVC Supervisors from Police Rosie Kalita said, “The case of disproportionate assets has been registered with it.
During the investigation, it was found that it had non-proportional and non-proportional moving assets with the source of income which was known during the period 1992 to 2021.
It was also found that he experienced expenses For more than RS 1.74 Crore as an educational expenditure of two children to date.
“Hazarika’s international journey history has been collected by the police and” it revealed that he had left the country and traveled abroad nine times without permission from competent authority ” .
He said Hazarika had an asset that was not synchronous with the source of his income and he occupied a public office and had disproportional assets during the period in his office.
He cannot take into account how he can collect money resources (cash deposit / check deposit in his bank account from unknown sources during the period of 2019-2020) which is disproportionate with the known source of income.
SP said, “The facts and conditions above are sufficient evidence of Hazarika because he deliberately enriched himself during the period of the office that contradicted SEC 2 (c) from the 2018 ACT corruption prevention.
He became a civil servant.
Having assets disproportionate which is a criminal violation below section 13 (1) (b) Act PC (amendment) 2018.
