Guwahati: Kamakhya Temple, one of 51 Shakti Peethas, opened the door to worshipers on Wednesday after a three-month gap because of the second wave of pandemic.
However, Sanctum Sanctorum is open only for those who are fully vaccinated.
Mohit Chandra Sarma, President of Kamakhya Temple’s Trust Council, said about 150 worshipers visited the temple on the first day reopened.
“Except for one, all other visitors are local.
Visitors, who come from outside Guwahati, are not allowed to enter the main area because he only receives a dose,” he added.
The worshipers were seen standing in the queue with tokens to enter the temple since morning.
“I feel happy after getting Darshan Maa Kamakhya today.
The situation will soon improve with MAA thanks,” said one of the worshipers.
Sarma said worshipers were needed to indicate a vaccination certificate to the committee before entering the temple.
“Visitors are given tokens to enter.
Those who have one shot can enter the place and those who have a shot can go to the inner temple,” he added.
The state government, when issuing a new standard operating procedure on Tuesday with certain relaxation, allowing the entry of 20 people who are fully vaccinated in the temple per hour.
All prevention measures to prevent the spread of deadly virus have been taken by the Boggle Trust Board.
Masks and physical distances have been made mandatory for visitors and also priests and other temple staff.
The place is being cleaned regularly.
The temple was reopened in October last year after a prolonged national locking due to a pandemic.
