Guwahati: Assam Rifles Jawan Susan Swarigiary, who was killed in an ambush in Manipur on Saturday, was cremated with full military honor at his place of origin in Bada Assam District on Monday in front of hundreds of people.
The 21-gun salute was given to Jawan in the cemetery attended by the Health Minister of Keshab Mahanta and the Minister of Handloom and Textile Urkhao Gwra Brahma, representing the state government.
Paying a rich tribute to Jawan, Manganta said the state government has announced Rs 5 Lakh Ex Gratia to his family.
“Very sad that we have lost Braveheart Jawan in a recent ambush in Manipur.
He will be remembered,” he said.
Minister of Himanta’s Minister of Himanta Buswa Sarma, who is outside the city, will visit the home of Suman on Wednesday.
Switariary, a 46 Rifleman Assam Rifles, among seven people, including a wife and small son of the unit unit commander, who was killed in an ambush in the Churachandpur Manipur district on Saturday.
