Guwahati: The court here in Guwahati on Thursday was given a guarantee to the MLA Congress from the Assam Baghbar Constituency, Sherman Ali Ahmed, in the case of misuse of government funds.
But he had to live in prison because he had not received a guarantee in a different case.
The ministerial vigilance cells have arrested MLA on October 6 for alleged involvement in sucking funds intended for road construction in their constituencies.
Cells in June arrested six people, including three were government officials, on charges of misuse of funds during Rs 25 Lakh.
A total of RS 65 Lakh was released for road construction under 14 million MLA Regional Development Schemes in 2017-18.
Rs 65 Lakh, Sherman allegedly sucked up RS 25.08.323 without execution of work according to plans and estimates.

The cell had arrested him when he was in the police custody in a different case nesting with the city police because of the comments “disrespectful” against the assam agitation martyr (1979-85).
He was arrested on October 2 from his official residence in a split because he called the “Assassins” martyr.
He made a statement after a massive eviction in Dholpur in Sipajhar at Assam’s Darrang.
