Guwahati: The Assam Cabinet on Thursday relaxed ownership norms for small farmers and marginal countries to make them qualify for the Samman Nidhi PM scheme after the Ministry of Agriculture marked the country with the number of farmers who did not fulfill the requirements that did not meet the acceptance payment.
, Agriculture Minister Union Narendra Singh Tomar in return in parliament on July 20 stated that there were 835,268 illegal beneficiaries in Assam, which were the highest in any state and contributed about one fifth of the total beneficiaries that did not meet the requirements throughout the country.
Tomar said more than 4.2 million people, who did not qualify for profits, received Rs 2,900 Crore since the beginning of the scheme in 2018 and the steps would be taken to restore the amount.
Thus, RS 554 Crore needs to be restored from Assam only.
Under the fully funded scheme by the central government, revenue support of 6,000 per year in the three installments is given to the family of small and marginal farmers with combined land holders or ownership of up to two hectares.
The state government identifies the families of farmers who are eligible for support and funds directly transferred to a bank account.
Chairman of the Minister of Himanta Buswa Sarma after a cabinet meeting tweeted, “in the cabinet today, we take several decisions for the overall development of the country.
The main decision includes expansion within the scope of the benefits of PM-Kisan, initiative for the development of education at grassroots, administrative reform, new promises, etc.
“Cabinet Minister Assam Dr.
Romanj Pegu, in the post-cabinet briefing, said many of the state farmers did not have land of Patta (deeds) and because of this there was a problem in utilizing the benefits of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi.
“The Cabinet has decided that farmers with the Annual Patta (Exonia Patta), Touji Patta, farmers who cultivate in Devottar Land, farmers are qualified to get the land of the Patta under the Law of Forest Rights, small tea farmers and horticulture farmers will also be considered to use PM – Benefits of Kisan from now on, “said Pegu ..
Minister of Agriculture Atul Bora said some farmers who did not meet the requirements had returned the money and some did not so.
“Nothing will survive.
The funds have gone to several teachers too and we improve every mistake,” he said.
“Not all false beneficiaries because many farmers in Assam do not have land holding their names, but on behalf of their father or grandfather.
According to their guidelines do not meet the requirements and so we have discussed this problem with the center,” he added.
