Guwahati: Police Assam on Tuesday arrested two people for allegedly bringing people from various parts of the country and settled them on a decent reserve forest land in the Hojai district.
The two people arrested had been identified as Nazrul Islam and Anowar Hussain.
Eight days ago, an eviction drive was carried out to clean more than 1,000 hectares of forest land that violated the limit in Lumding after the Gautati High Court order.
Islam nabbed based on pine submitted by the state government on November 8.
On the basis of Nazrul’s statement, Hussain was arrested, said Hojai Sp Barun Purkayastha.
“Those duo is thought to be used to organize people and settle them in forest land in exchange for money.
They have been ordered under various parts of the IPC and Indian forest laws.
We will produce it before the court judge’s head, Hojai, on Wednesday and seek prisoners Those for seven days, “SP added.
He further said the police continued their investigation to associate further relationships in this case.
Forest Officer Division Hojai Dasadeep Das said 1,410 hectares of land in the forest under encroachment, more than 1,000 hectares had been released.
The eviction is being carried out in a wise manner.
District administration and the Ministry of Forestry have advised the seizure before driving them.
No unwanted situation occurred during the eviction in the Lumding Reserve forest when encroachment belonging to Garo Chakma and the Muslim community had left their land that was illegally occupied before the eviction began.
It was the second largest eviction after the eviction in Dholpur in Darrang Regency Assam in September which changed with violence resulted in the deaths of two civilians in the shooting of the police.
