BENGALURU: Following the Covid-19 second tide, Bagalkot district also has a doubtful list, reporting 212 kid unions over the last year and 45 instances in only April and May.
Even though the most adorable rescued was 9 years old, the earliest was 17 decades, 11 weeks.
Distribute across 50sqkm, Bagalkot is in the north-western corner of Karnataka and shares a boundary with Maharashtra.
While 45 instances in two weeks are reported, several others might have occurred clandestinely.
The principal reason behind its reportage is that the lockdown which has allowed authorities to monitor marriages or associated offenses in cities and smaller urban centers.
Bagalkot zilla panchayat leader officer T Bhoobalan, that has led the struggle against child marriage at the district, also stated these amounts are extremely alarming.
He wishes to generate awareness among individuals and chose to handle each situation.
The kids are returned to their own parents’ home just after the household provides a written undertaking that they won’t organize the kid’s marriage until they turn 18 decades.
Other officials indicate there’s some leniency when the woman is near 18 decades.
The district government has established the gateway’Marriage Victims and Tracking Children Health Records’ (with help of the National Informatics Centre) which monitors all saved children until they turn 18.
The ZP has roped in the neighborhood unit of the girls and child welfare department and authorities to keep tabs on rescued kids.
“We’ve formed teams to see homes of rescued children after per week to test their status.
The teams may upload an image of their kid with all the family to monitor their security and attempt to make sure they live a normal life and go into college,” Bhoobalan stated.
Bagalkot is the only district that maintains a listing of these rescued kids with followup on a normal basis.
Of the 212 kid unions, the district government has registered a FIR in seven instances where the households have reneged on his or her own assurance.
