Bengaluru: A woman from Bangladesh was arrested on charges of lives illegally in the city and fake documents, passports and aadhaar cards confiscated from him.
The defendant, Roni Begum, allegedly entered India through West Bengal in 2006 and changed his name to Ghosh Payal after marrying Naveen Kumar in Mumbai.
The couple shifted to Bengaluru in 2016 and worked at the garment factory at Anjana Nagar, Byadarahalli.
Begum gets a passport and aadhaar card in 2019 using local housing documents.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Sanjeev Patil said officials from the Foreign regional regional registration office (FRO) warned their colleagues in Bengaluru about the defendant.
“On January 9, 2020, immigration officials at Kolkata Airport arrested a woman who tried to fly to Dhaka with fake documents.
When asked, he said another woman Bangladesh sneaked into the country and was in Bengaluru.
Based on FRRRO input, the city police launched an investigation .
They visited Mumbai and other places to gather information and finally focused on him a few days ago, “he said.
Patil said legal action would begin against those who helped him get fake documents.
