Rs 20 lakh for each ward to repair the path, road, street lights are high orders, say former board members
Eight zones in Bengaluru have received a total RS 667 Crore from Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanaagara Palike (BBMP) to carry out various development work, including repairing paths and roads, as well as maintenance of street lights and Borewell.
This allocation is part of the RS 2,000 Crore Grant promised in a budget for 2021-22 as a measure to decentralize some strength.
But the former board member cried quickly said that the grant was too little when broken to every ward.
From Crore RS 667, RS 269 Crore has been intended for a total of 16 development work, which will be carried out by the main engineers at the zonal level.
Some works include building maintenance zones, increasing community space, BBMP land fence (parks, playgrounds and parks).
Part of the grant (RS 29.82 Crore) will be spent on contributing the road environment.

BBMP has allocated a total of Rs 150 Crore for all 198 wards.
For the first time in its order, the BBMP has directed an zon engineer to take these works (for Rs 150 Crore) only after consulting with the Environment Committee.
Each ward will get Rs 20 lakh to repair the path, RS 20 Lakh to fill the hole and other 20 lakh rs to repair Borewells.
Former board members are not too happy with this grant.
They wanted BBMP to restore the previous system where the new ward was added (98) was given Hospital 3 Crore and RS 2 Crore provided for wards that fell under the core area.
Former Board member Abdul Wajeed said he had written a letter to the head of the Gaurav Gupta commissioner to restore the old system.
“How many ways can be repaired environmental engineers only in Rs 20 lakh? When BBMP has not reduced the budget in a big way this year, where is the rest of the budget?” He asked.
Another component which is part of the RS 667 Crore Action plan including RS 61.70 Crore is intended to maintenance of street lights (excluding electricity bills), lighting in the park and toilet facilities.
Separate 45.45 Hospital grants have been provided to conduct 12 works, which will be carried out by the BBMP Division Project.
Some works include modernizing the BBMP headquarters, improvement and maintenance of the BBMP quarter, road maintenance, flyovers, and subway, rainwater harvesting on the railroad on bridges, repairs and maintenance of animal birth control centers, etc.
BBMP has also allocated Rs 20 Crore for the lake division.
The funds are for maintenance and lake fences.
The Civic body has provided another 71 RS Crore for the construction of storm waterways in Vrishabhavathi Valley and towards the annual maintenance of the waterways.
The BBMP road infrastructure division has received Rs 50 Crore to keep arterial and sub-arteries.
