Bengaluru: To ensure a trip without cash, BMTC has decided to reintroduce QR-Code tickets on all AC buses, including Vajra and Vajra.
This will provide Paytm Soundbox (speaker) to the conductor, which will provide an audio warning after the passenger makes a payment.
“We plan to buy 500 speakers, especially for AC buses.
At present, 190 AC Plying buses in the city and this number will likely increase to 400 in March.
The conductor would keep this speaker in their bags,” said AV Surya Sen, Director of BMTC (Information Technology).
In May 2020, BMTC has introduced QR-based travel facilities upi on all buses.
But this was stopped after many conductors refused to receive payments without cash, complaining that the number was not credited.

According to officials, Canara Bank has provided a laminate card with a QR code and they have been distributed to all conductors.
Passengers can scan the code with their cellphones to pay for tickets using people like Google Pay, Phoneepe, and Paytm.
Each bus conductor will have a different QR code.
Asked about non-AC buses, an official said: “Facilities without cash are available on all buses, but we have no plans to buy speakers for non-AC.
We have to pay Rs 49 a month per bus to the company.
This is a Stop setting -Gap.
“BMTC to receive NCMC from Maywith Namma Metro, along with RBL Bank, all regulated to launch the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC), commuters can use it on the BMTC bus from May 2022.
BMTC has decided to invite the implementation of the tariff collection system automatically next week.
“The selected company will provide 12,000 Android-based electronic ticket machines that can receive UPI QR-Code, NCMC, closed loop cards,” said an official.
The BMTC application by Officials MarchBMTC said passengers would be able to track the bus through the new application starting next March.
The vehicle tracking unit (VTUS) has been installed in 70 buses so far and the rest is expected to be installed in two months.
The Manipal and Amnex Infotechnologies Consortium, at a cost of Rs 37.3 Crore, is implementing a smart transportation system under the NIRBHAY project.
The project includes fitting two cameras in 5,000 buses, 5,000 VTUS, 500 passenger information system display boards, and new applications with women’s safety features.

“We have received 110 BSVI buses so far.
This is the first time we trigger the BSVI bus to the fleet,” said an official.
Under Smart City Funds, BMTC plans to induce 90 electric buses.
“We will get 45 buses at the end of the month and they will be operated mainly from the cengeri depot.
45 others will be appointed in February 2022,” said an official.
BMTC has also decided to memo 800 buses that have crossed their lifetime.
