Bengaluru: Volunteers from Malleswaram & Suttha Muttha Group have distributed around 600 drink packages to staff at government hospitals every day.
They launched the drive in the last week of April after a hospital asked them for snacks because all the canteens and restaurants were closed due to the lock.
This group collects more than Rs 10 lakh for this and other initiatives.
Sunayana Chatratapati, group member, said they reach five public health centers and hospitals every day.
With 20-25 volunteers and support flowing from residents, some of which now live abroad, they have also reached 5-10 other hospitals in Bengaluru.
Even the ITC Britannia has reached the group with one package of biscuits and cakes.
“We aim for various items every day such as Buttermilk, and Bakers ensure healthy food,” Chatrapati said.
Other members say the drink is packed in a way that can be eaten by a doctor without removing their gloves.
In addition, volunteers present health workers with a gratitude card written by hand.
The group has also set a vaccination drive, including those of which more than 85 years of residents were taken in the car and were vaccinated in the vehicle itself.
The staff for being held by the Inner Wheel Club, Bangalore will make it easier for doctors at Bowring Hospital and Public Health Center at 11am on Thursday.
The club has held another event at 4 pm where various welfare associations have contributed Hampers and plaque gifts to be presented to doctors and health workers.
