Bengaluru: A cabin that fled in 2007 after he was convicted of cutting a young man in Bengaluru was arrested in Tamil Nadu on Wednesday.
DCP (traffic-west) Kuldeep Kumar Jain said P Mativannan, a resident of Tiruppur in TN, was arrested by traffic police to cut employees of a private company aged 25 years in October 2005.
Mativannan worked with a travel agent in Tiruppur.
“Mativannan went to town in the owner’s SUV to drop a few passengers.
On the way back, he crashed into a biker near Junction Marenahalli in Vijayanagar, killing riders in place.
Mativannan was arrested and blessed under the IPC 304a section (causing death due to negligence).
Thus , the local court punished him and sentenced him a simple one-year prison sentence and slapped the fine of RS 3,000.
He became difficult to understand immediately after that, “Jain said.
In July this year, this problem arose during a review meeting and a police team led by Inspector Gy Giriraj visited Tiruppur.
However, the police returned empty-handed as Mativannan, 48, had shifted his residence.
“The team contacted the previous owner, with whom Mativannan worked.
The owner told us that Mativannan had a long stop.
After a lot of effort, we managed to get his cellphone number and, finally, trace him to a different place in Tiruppur and arrest him on Wednesday,” added Jain.
Mativannan was produced before the court who had punished him and sent to durable.
