Bengaluru: After losing around Rs 35 Lakh by trading on the online platform and falling into the debt trap, a 28-year-old mechanical engineer decided to rob the bank to make money fast.
He succeeded in his mission on January 14 when he left with 1.8 kg of gold and 3.7 lakh Rs of cash from the bank in Madiwala after threatening the staff with a knife.
But he ran out of luck because the police tracked it and arrested him along with stolen booty.
The defendant was Dheeraj S, a resident of Kamakshipalya and private company employees.
The police said he used to get Rs 30,000 a month and lived with his brother and father.
He began investing his savings on the application-based trading platform in November 2020 and immediately borrowed from several people, including his family members, to pump more money.
But investments fell flat and he pushed himself into a debt trap.
That’s when he came with the idea of ​​robbing the bank, police said.
He began searching on the internet How to run a bank robbery.
But he only found the robbery made by the gang and how some of them were caught.
“He thinks of doing a hopeless robbery, will help him avoid the police dragnet,” said an officer.
Dheeraj decided to rob a bank far from her residence.
In December last year, he roamed throughout South Bengaluru, including Jayanagar, JP Nagar and surrounding areas, before concentrating into the bank located on the main road of Hosur in Madiwala.
The bank is close to the main road and does not have a security guard.
Dheeraj visited the bank at least four times in the first and second week of January and made a mental note from the manager’s room, a strong room and more.

He fell around 17:30 when the bank manager and HAH, 38, and the cashier locked the main door.
Dheeraj took out the knife and threatened the manager and women with terrible consequences if they did not open the door.
