Bengaluru: By unlocking the city, a violation of the Covid-19 safety protocol increased.
The BBMP Marshals has recorded a 169 percent increase in cases in the last six days compared to the previous six-day period.
Between July 1 and 6, they registered 5,688 cases against people who failed to wear masks or followed social distance, and collected Rs 14.2 lakh in a fine.
The figures for the period 25-30 June were 2,109 and almost Rs 5.3 lakh.
The highest number of violations was recorded on Tuesday: in the West Zone, 225, East Zone 222, and the South Zone 193.
Because the pandemic began, BBMP had detected more than 4.9 lakh violations and sealed 183 outlets to violate Covid norms.
Bengaluru police also separately registered the case.
Recently, 54 joint teams, each consisted of four marshals and one house or police keeper, formed, and they worked in two shifts, 6 am and at 2pm.
The city area has been categorized under 27 divisions, and two teams are deployed in each division.
A marshal said that the actual number of violations was much higher, but the enforcement had fallen.
Consider economic pressure, BBMP focuses more on creating awareness and distributing masks to residents in low-income areas and migrant workers.
“In areas where workers and families with low income life, we distribute masks and warn them instead of imposing directly.
In other regions, we punish people while also giving masks,” said Col Rajbir Singh, Head of Marshal Officer, BBMP , “We will run this campaign for another week.
Then, there will be strict enforcement.”
