As per plan, half of city’s eligible in 18-44 group will get the shot by July 1st week; 59% of those in 45+ group have already got first dose
The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has drawn up a plan to vaccinate 30 lakh people over the next one month.
By doing so, half of the City’s eligible population including those who fall in the age group of 18-44 years will be inoculated by the first week of July.
The plan was revealed by BBMP Chief Commissioner Gaurav Gupta on Monday.
So far, 34.68 lakh doses of vaccine have been administered both by the private and government healthcare facilities in the BBMP limits.
Of these, 6.13 lakh people have received the second dose of vaccine too.
Data shows that the private hospitals have been administering a higher number of vaccine doses (4.15 lakh) in the city over the last one week than the government healthcare centres (1.67 lakh).

RWAs step up to organise vax drivesThe City roughly has over 10,000 RWAs both including those of layouts and apartments.
There are also many areas where the RWAs are either inactive or never existed.
Gupta said that about 59 per cent of the 20 lakh people – who are above 45 years – have already received the first dose of vaccine.
“We have initiated a house to house survey to trace the missing beneficiaries in the 45+ age group.
The beneficiaries who are due for the second dose will be called out from our command centre,” he said.
The BBMP has covered about 13 per cent of the eligible beneficiaries who fall in the age group of 18-44 years.
“There are about 64 lakh people who come under this category.
We have so far vaccinated 9 lakh people.
We aim to vaccinate 30-32 lakh people in the next one month,” the Chief Commissioner said in a press conference.
We aim to vaccinate 30-32 lakh people (in the 18-44 years group) in the next one month–Gaurav Gupta, BBMP Chief Commissioner
He also appreciated the work of private hospitals that have been conducting vaccination camps in apartments, residential layouts and campuses of companies.
“We are confident to reach the target of vaccinating around 30 lakh people in the next month as we have been administering more than 1 lakh doses on a daily basis in the last couple of days,” Gupta said.
The BBMP is also planning to conduct vaccination drives in slum areas by partnering with non-governmental organisations and donors.
The commissioner said ACT Grants has come forward to provide free vaccines to economically poor people.
