Chandigarh: BJP will oppose all 117 seats in Punjab in the upcoming assembly election in the state, said Punjab BJP Ashwani Sharma, who virtually attended the party’s national executive meeting held in the National Capital on Sunday.
Punjab is scheduled to go to the assembly poll in 2022.
In the 2017 assembly poll, Congress has won an absolute majority in the state by winning 77 seats and overthrow the SAD-BJP government after 10 years.
Aam Aadmi appeared as the second largest party that won 20 seats in 117 members of the Punjab legislature.
Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) can only win 15 seats while BJP secures 3 seats.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Interior Minister Amit Shah and Head of BJP JP Nadda attended the party national executive meeting.
This discussion is expected to be on the election strategy in seven states that will choose next year.
