Bengaluru: In a gloomy note, Bengaluru on Thursday registered 30,540 fresh covid infections – a one-day surge in the highest since the pandemic broke almost two years ago – taking the active case through a 2-lakh sign.
The highest city until now is 26,756 daily cases on April 30, 2021.
Karnataka reported 47,754 cases on the day, shady less than the highest 47,930 recorded on May 9, 2021, during the peak of the second wave of pandemic.
The country recorded 29 deaths in the last 24 hours.
After carrying out almost 2.6 lakh tests in a day, the country’s daily peposititivity was 18.5% on that day.
With 1.2 Lakh tests, Bengaluru recorded a level of primitist by 25.7%.
Apart from Bengaluru, four other districts reported more than 1,000 cases: Hassan entered in 1,840 cases, followed by Tumakuru 1,622, Manda 1,512 and Mysuru 1,352.
With that, the act of active cases in the state approaches the 3-lakh sign.
Health Minister K Sudhakar said the state, according to estimation, would witness new cases every day between 70,000 and 1.2 lakh in the coming days.
Of the 29 deaths in the state, eight victims came from Bengaluru.
The victims including a 40-year-old man from Mandya who died at his residence on January 17.
The youngest victim was a 27-year-old woman from Mysuru who suffered from shortness of breath which died on January 17, after three days of hospitalization.
The woman has no comorbid.
In Shivamogga, a positive Covid person died of suicide and this case has been reported as a non-covid death in accordance with the state bulletin.
