Bengaluru: Karnataka High Ourt on Thursday was given a guarantee to Bineesh Kodiyeri, the son of the former Secretary of Kerala CPI (M) KodiYeri Balakrishnan, in the case of money laundering submitted by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
Berineses was in Bengaluru prison for a year.
A single bench of the High Court headed by Uma MG justice praised Bineesh 38-year-old with a bond of RS 5 Lakh with two surets.
The bench also puts conditions.
Bineses cannot leave the country without previously permission from the trial court and must appear before the investigative officer when needed and does not try to damage the evidence or witness.
Bineesh was arrested by Ed in Bengaluru at the end of October last year and was sent to the Agrahara Parapula Prison Complex here on October 29, 2020, after the Central Agent posted it under the prevention of money laundering laws.
It all started after Anoop Mohammed, a city-based drug dealer and old friend Binary, was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in August 2020 and in his confession he named Bineses as a decoration for his restaurant business in the city.
The Ed Sleuth registered the case and called Bineses to be questioned and he was arrested later on charges of transferring cash not countless through various accounts to Mohammed.
Some of the Benami companies and business companies suspected of binesesh in Bengaluru and Thiruvananthapuram were raided by the Ed team.
Berineses was also detained by NCB in Bengaluru for questioning drug relations with Anoop Mohammed but the agency failed to build anything.
He is expected to get out of prison on Friday night and will likely go to Thiruvananthapuram where his family lives, said the source.
