B’luru: Co. Under Lens for email malware to army officers

Bengaluru: The police were looking for spies suspected of sending emails to Malware-Laden to personal ID-ID of several Indian Army officers on April 16 and 17.
Sleuth of military intelligence and anti-terrorism (ATC) from Central Crime Branch (ATC) on Tuesday swooped private company offices in the layout of HRB and searching.
Suspicious spy activities recently traced to the company’s office with military intelligence based on IP addresses.
Some company employees were questioned on Wednesday.
Raiding Party arrested three laptops and seven desktops, commissioners with police (crime) Sandeep Patil, added that the Cybercrime police have registered cases based on information provided by the army.
The recent military intelligence unit shared information with the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and Bengaluru Police on phishing attacks.
According to sources, suspicious email comes from Bengaluru and the suspects access the National Information Center Email ID to send an email that contains PDF zip files to military officers.
Evil files are designed for installation to extract zip files.
The installation will encourage the computer restart after four hours and install remote control software to allow theft of data and its transfer to a suspicious server.
The police said they had registered the case below Section 5 (misinformation communication) official secret law, 1923, section 379 (penalty for theft) and 406 (criminal violations of trust) IPC and also various parts of the Information Technology Act, 2000 against unknown events.
Further probes are taking place.
