Bengaluru: Congress on Wednesday accused the Bengaluru Police to open a digital wallet and transferred 0.08 Bitcoin worth around Rs 4 Lakh from the defendant’s account to be secured, but they disappeared within 24 hours.
MLA Priyank Kharge claimed 0.08 Bitcoin confiscated from Robin Khandelwal, one of the accused in this case.
“The account was emptied on January 19, the day after the police opened a digital wallet and transferred the number.
Where the confiscated Cryptocurrency was sent? For whom the police created a wallet?” Asked the former minister.
He also claimed the police opened a digital wallet with Unocoin which was hacked allegedly by Srikrishna Ramesh aka Sriki, who was accused of main.
“The truth can only be disclosed if an investigation is carried out by a Supreme Court judge who sits,” he added.
Unocoin is a Cryptocurrency trading company used by police to secure the cryptocurrency confiscated from the main charges.
The same was recorded in a letter from Central Crime Branch to the Cottonpet Police Station, Kharge said, released a document.
He said the letter formed a base to register this case.
“When the police knew that Unocoin was hacked, why did they open digital wallets with him? How did the decision be taken to transfer Bitcoin confiscated to be secured at a stolen house?” He asked.
Kharge suggested that the police not understand this case at all, as the head of a trading company that was hacked was invited to Panangama in the chargesheet submitted by the police.
‘Intelligence officer at Meet’at The Congress Press Meet, a plainclothes police woman allegedly escorted by party workers on Wednesday.
It was said that the woman was part of the state police intelligence wing.
“BJP seems to be under serious pressure in bitcoin fraud.
If not, why did they send a police officer patiently at the congressional press meeting? Will HM explain?” Kharge tweets later.
