Bengaluru: The government’s decision to Karnataka to allow cinema and cinemas operates from Monday with 50% residential drawing lukewarm response.
On Day 1 Unlock 4.0, most of the theater in the city remained closed.
Reason: The theater owner prepared to filter the film, there is also no new release.
The theater owner said that the producer, especially those who made large budget films, did not show interest in releasing their films until 100% residential was allowed.
Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce Vice President and Actor Umesh Banakar told Toi that the guideline was dianek on Sunday afternoon and that the theater was not ready to reopen.
Many theaters start cleaning their place on Monday, but it takes time to filter a new film, he added.
According to KFCC, there are around 630 single screen theater in the state and 260 multiplex with four lakh chairs.
Twelve Lakh employees depend on the industry.
Exhibitors say they are helpless because producers are ready to release their films only if the occupancy is 100% permitted.
Multiplex also remains closed.
Nandeesh Mr.
General Manager of Garuda Mall, said there was no film filtered due to lack of new content.
The President of the Film Exhibition Association of Karnataka KV Chandrashekar said if there was a manufacturer who was interested in releasing movies with the given situation, the theater was ready to filter it.
“The discussion has happened.
We may get a clear picture of the release of a new film on Friday,” he added.
DK Ramakrishna, President of the Kannada Film Producer Association (KFPA), said there were two sides for this problem.
“While producers check whether people will come to the cinema given the situation of the pandemic, the exhibitors are looking at the cost of watching movies.
It takes a while when filmmakers are interested in releasing films need time to start promotions,” he said.
NM SURESH, Secretary, KFCC, said they had called for producer meetings, exhibitors and related people.
“We will collect the opinion of producers who are willing to release films and also exhibitors to achieve conclusions.
We will ask the Minister of Chief to allow the presence of 100% in the cinema,” he added.
The state government recently ignored property taxes for a single screen theater for 2020-21 to help them overcome losses.
According to KFCC, there are around 630 singlescreen theaters in Karnataka who pay property tax rs 10 crore to the government.
There are around 130 theaters in Bengalaru City and 110 are below the border of BBMP.
These cinemas pay property taxes that vary from Rs 2.5 Lakh to each RS 4 Lakh, based on their location and size.
