Silchar: A worker saw a bomb on the construction site under construction in Khulicherra in the Cachar Assam District near the Mizoram border on Saturday, triggering border tensions between fresh states.
Immediately, the police from the nearest Dholy Police Station and Silchar rushed to the place and were closed in the area.
Subrata Sen’s additional supervisor (Cachar) told the media that a squad of the army bomb had rushed to the place from Masitpur near Silchar.
It tracks items that are allegedly packed in plastic sheets.
The squad restored it and took it to the nearest forest.
The five-foot well excavated, in it the bomb was stored, he said.
Sen added that the team was not enough to qualify to identify the nature of the bomb.
So, the specialist team will travel from Nagaon on Sunday morning and throw it away.
“Until now it has been stored safely according to the procedure,” the official said.
However, part of the local population suspected that it could be an effort to thwart the bridge construction, which was carried out by the Assam government to develop road communication in the remote area of the Cachar district.
