Guwahati: Normal life was truly affected in three districts in the Valley of Barak Assam on Wednesday because the 12-hour band was called to protest the murder of seven people in Assam-Mizoram’s border clash.
Seven people have been killed and 50 others, including SP, who were injured in bloody clashes along the border between Mizoram-Assam countries on Monday.
All business companies remained closed and several vehicles bombarded the cachar roads bordering Mizoram, Hailakandi and Karimanjitas even because of emergency services were released from PurView Bandh Barak Valley which began at 5 in the morning.
However, train services remain unaffected so far, said Northeast Railway spokesman (NF).
Bandh, who was called by the Democratic Front of the Barak (BDF) and was supported by political clothing including AIUD opposition and social organizations, was “total” and there were no reports from unwanted incidents from any district, other officials said.
Head of BDF Convenor Pradip Dutta Ray said that people spontaneously extend their support to Bandh.
“We are forced to call this bandh as police personnel we have died and there must be a permanent solution for disputes because we do not want bloodshed again,” he said.
Some social organizations in the Hailakandi district block the streets to Mizoram and launch unlimited “economic blockade” to prevent the movement of trucks carrying goods to neighboring countries.
Various organizations also held demonstrations in various parts of the valley which protested the murder of seven people and demanded a permanent solution for disputes.
The Head of Secretary and Director General of Police Assam and Mizoram will hold talks about this issue in New Delhi during the day under the Aegis Union Home Minister.
The Delegation of the Seven Member Congress, led by the Head of the New State Unit appointed by Bhupen Bora, is scheduled to visit the disputed limit to review the applicable situation.
The Hailakandi supervisor of the Ramandeeep Kaur police has posted as a new Cachar Police Chief after a serious injury to Petuman Vaibhav Chandrakan Nimbalkar in border clashes between bloody countries.
Kaur will be replaced by Chirang Police Chief Gaurav Upadhaya, a notification issued by the Department of Home and Politics.
Upadhaya will be replaced by Prospective Bora, which currently serves as Deputy Commissioner of the Guwahati Police (traffic).
Nimbalkar was flown to Mumbai for better care, while the other three shifted to Gautati Medical College and hospitals on Tuesday.
The death toll in clashes increased to seven the previous day when ShyNmarrasad was a critical injured from the 6th Assam Police Battalion surrendered to his stomach bullet injury at Silchar Medical College and the hospital on Tuesday night.
Tensions along the border between countries in Cachar and Hailakandi, have increased since October last year, with the frequent incidence of house burning and land encroachment.
The problem flared again in February this year, and two houses emptied by people since then in the Gutguti area near the Gallacherra line post caught fire by unknown people in June.
A grenade was thrown at the Assam government team when visiting the disputed border region on July 10, but no one was injured in the incident.
Before 2020, despite the border disputes existed, the situation remained relatively calm, restrictions on several examples in 1994 and 2007, but the flare-up was appointed with central intervention.
After the 2007 incident, Mizoram stated that it did not accept the current limit with Assam and that the line of the line in the inner line as described in the notification in 1875 below the East Border Regulation of Bengal (BEFR) of 1873 must be the basis for grabbing the border and not demarcation The 1933 limit wants to be enforced by Assam.
Mizoram, then known as Lushai Hill, was carved from Assam which was greater as the United States in 1972 before a full state made in 1987.
Both countries shared the border 164.6 km between Cachar Assam, and Karimanji and Karimanji and Karimanji and Karimanji and Karimanji Kolastic, Mamit and Aizawl Mizoram districts.
