Bengaluru: With the number of fresh Covid-19 cases reduced, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahangara Puku (BBMP) has decided to reduce the number of government quota beds to treat Covid patients to around 1,800.
Gaurav Gupta, Head of the BBMP Commissioner, told reporters: “Every day for the past few weeks, less than 30 positive patients are being referred to the hospital to enter by the BBMP doctor.
Because the total number of cases has also dropped, we will reduce the quota of the government .
When we talk, we will order 1,800 beds.
We will modify this number as and when needed.
“The BBMP Portal revealed 95% of 6,446 beds provided for Covid-19 patients empty at 4:30 a.m.
on Thursday.
The current plan is to reduce the bed almost three quarters.
The proposed 1,800 beds will cover them in government and private hospitals.
Gupta also said some Covid care centers in Bengaluru were closed when they saw very little reception, but infrastructure was being maintained ahead of the third wave of anticipated infection.
As on Wednesday, Bengaluru City has around 12,573 Covid-19 cases active and, during the past week, the test level of the test has dropped to 0.7%.
Eight weeks ago (between 19 and 25 May), the level of peposititivity in the city reached around 15.7%.
Incidentally, Bulletin Covid BBMP shows, the number of covid-19 vaccine doses given on Wednesday is only 36,503 – the lowest in 10 days.
