Agartala: A BSF Jawan on Wednesday allegedly died of suicide using his service rifle in Khowai District of Tripura, a day after two paramilitary forces personnel were killed in a state of ambush by the Banned National Liberation Front (NLFT) which was banned, said a police officer.
Jawan who had died was identified as Baburam Choudhury (41) from the 80th Battalion BSF, a resident of Jodhpur in Rajasthan.
“Baburam is in the guard at Paharmura’s border post along with three colleagues when the incident happened.
According to his colleagues, Baburam shot himself from his service rifle around 5am.
The case had been registered at the Khowai police station,” the officer said.
Meanwhile, the opposition leader of Sarkar Manik, expressed concern over the ambush by Ultras on Tuesday, urging the state government to take “fast and effective steps to combat the efforts of revival of rebellion”.
The border guard forces said on Tuesday that the ambush occurred at around 6:30 a.m.
in the Dhalai District of the country and those killed including a sub-inspector of strength.
A BSF troops patrolled the Chawmanu area in the morning, when guerrillas hid in the forest spraying bullets from automatic weapons and fatal injured one sub-inspector and jawan, who died in place, digging, PTI ranks, told PTI.
Chairman of the Minister of Biplab Kumar Deb has condemned the “coward” incident on Tuesday.
“Our brave security personnel sacrifice will not be in vain.
India stands her shoulders to carry out with a courageous martyr,” Deb wrote on the official Facebook page.
Massive search operations by BSF and Tripura State Rifles (TSR) are taking place in the Dhalai district.
Darlong said ultras might sneak into Bangladesh after an ambush.
