BSY Shadow: Bommai said he would make his own decisions

Bengaluru: Shortly after taking an oath as the main minister, Bukavaraj Bommai held a meeting with a senior bureaucrat on Wednesday.
He later announced a series of steps, including scholarships for farmers’ children, and answered media questions in interactions such as their first, saying he would work proactively in his new role rather than just approving the file.
There are concerns in a few quarters so that you can become a CAP RUBBER BS Yediyurappa.I won’t be the minister of rubber head, and I will prove that by ensuring people present the presence of welfare approval and development.
But you have said you will work under Yediyurappa’s guidance.
When I said I would consult with him, I mean that the former CM has handled pandemic effectively and even though there are financial constraints, he has implemented a few good schemes and ensures capable administration.
This experience is important and that is what I mean that the guidance will be sought for a new cabinet to take further steps.
The cabinet expansion will be your first main task.
When will it happen? I will go to Delhi every time the Prime Minister’s office gives me time in the next few days.
I will also meet the home minister Amit Shah and National President BJP JP Nadda to thank them for giving me this opportunity.
This will be followed by a discussion about the cabinet expansion, where our seniors will guide me how to do it.
How do you plan to overcome challenges? My biggest challenge will be the third wave of Covid-19 and floods that have hit several parts of the country.
On Thursday, I will visit Uttara Kannada District, where people overcome flooding, and ensure that the district government takes concrete steps.
I will also hold a meeting with officials about the best way we can handle Covid situations.
How do you plan to bring a team together? In our constitutional settings, there are certain posts mandated.
As a minister, you are first among the equivalent.
Even the cabinet has its own constitutional power.
As cm, my job is to bring everyone together as a team.
I can only say that we will work as a team and strength will rest with the team.
Is there a need for populist welfare schemes when the country faces crunch funds? This is not a populist scheme and cannot be considered as expenses.
This is an investment in our human resources.
Only when our human resources can be well equipped with the future.
How do you plan to deal with apathetic bureaucracy? Project delays have crawled because of the attitude of “Chalta Hain” among a large number of bureaucrats and time clearing of old files.
This will not be tolerated.
To make sure the delayed file is removed earlier, we will introduce the drive in the next few days.
After the order is removed, all files in each department must be up to date within 15 days.
During my meeting, I was looking for cooperation with officials and told them to be ready for change.
