Chandigarh: City heritage furniture items are not under the ‘ancient times’ category and ‘Art Treasure’, ruling the Indian Archaeological Survey (ASI) while refusing to act in their sales by a foreign-based auction house.
The instructions came in response to a letter written by Ajay Jagga, Member, Cell Protection Heritage, Chandigarh, provided information about the auction inheritance furniture held on May 31 in Paris, France.
“It is to mention that until these architectural items are expressed as ‘art treasure’, breast milk cannot take any action, because these heritage items are not under the category of ‘ancient’ and ‘art treasures’,” Director ASI (ancient times) said.
But it adds important directions that can help stem the outflow.
“Asked to prevent the export of Chandigar Heritage furniture considering the commands issued by the Central Government Ministry.
This information can be circulated to all special outgoways (air / sea),” the director said next in his letter.
The ministry order on February 22, 2011, has directed the Expert Committee under the leadership of the UT administrator to ask how Heritage articles were removed in the first place and sent abroad, ending at a foreign auction.
The further asks UT to find out the inventory of all original works of Le Corbusier-Pierre Jeanneret held in various buildings, authenticated by experts, and issued orders to stop disposal of inheritance furniture.
Jagga calls the order of breastfeeding for the benefit of a national heritage that will prevent human trafficking.
“Orders, copies sent to me, will be very helpful, as possible, no Chandigarh legacy items that can go abroad.
With this order, at least, the illegal exports of these items will end, because the customs department has been ordered To notify all ports, both air or sea, to limit exports, “he said.
