Bengaluru: Karnataka on Wednesday reported 40,499 new Covid-19 cases, and 21 deaths, took the calculation to 33.29.199 and the death toll became 38,486.
The state, which has witnessed a steady wave in the case since the last week of December, has recorded 41,457 fresh infections on Tuesday.
From new cases on Wednesday, 24,135 came from Bengaluru Urban who saw 18,081 people being repatriated and five deaths related to the virus.
The total number of active cases throughout the country is 2.67,650.
There were 23,209 releasing, taking the total recovery amount to 30.23,034, said the Bulletin Department of Health.
While the level of participation for that day was established at 18.80 percent, the case mortality rate (CFR) was 0.05 percent.
Of the 21 deaths, five came from Bengaluru Urban, four of Mysuru, three in Dakshina Kannada, and each of the Bagalkote, Bataghagavi, Chikkaballala, Gadag, Hassan, Raichur, Shivamogga, Tumakuru and Vijayapura.
Apart from Bengaluru Urban, Tumakuru recorded the second highest with 1,804 new cases, Hassan 1,785, MySuru 1,341, and Mandya 1,340, followed by others.
The Bengaluru Urban District now has a total of 14,82,484 cases, followed by Mysuru 1.91,803 and Tumaku 4,31,569.
According to the bulletin, Bengaluru Urban overcame the list among the release with 12,81,636, followed by Mysuru 1,80,264 and tumakuru 1,20,917.
Cumulatively, a total of 5,96.06.693 samples were tested, where only 2,15,312 on Wednesday.
