Guwahati: Minister of Health Union Mansukh Mandaviya said the center will provide a Covid RS 1,300 Crore response package to the northeast.
He spoke to the media after a review meeting with the Minister of Health of Northeast State here on Tuesday.
“For Covid management and to overcome the future pandemic, northeastern countries will be given more than 1,300 crore assistance.
Utilizing this financial assistance, from the local level to the district, the procurement of drugs, the availability of oxygen stocks, an increase in hospital beds, Including iksus and child bed, will be done, “said Mandaviya.
He said detailed discussions occurred at meetings to accelerate the inoculation of drives in the northeast.
“The Indian government is committed to making a covid vaccine dose available for all countries, which also drives aggressive vaccination,” he added.
He expressed satisfaction in the implementation of the Covid management plan coordinating with the center.
With concerns over the possibility of the third wave of the country, Mandaviya said the government was ready to handle Covid situations even if the number of cases rose in the coming days.
“Going by the population, RS 23,000 Crore is being distributed among all countries.
More than 1,300 crore Rs, outside it will be given to northeastern countries,” said Minister.
Although the number of cases in the northeast dropped slowly, he said in the past two weeks, the number has shown a real slide.
“The second wave struck the northeast, so it took time to subside.
But the second wave was undoubtedly close to the end in the northeast,” said Mandaviya.
He acknowledged that vaccine doubt, social system and demographic factors had been a challenge in drive vaccination but in the past 15 days, vaccination had gained momentum in the region.
“We will continue to supply vaccines into the northeastern state according to their needs,” Mavaviya was sure.
