Chandigarh: In the Director of Dir, 13 of 36 not from PGI

Chandigarh: Of the 36 candidates who have registered for the position of Director of PGI, 13 comes from outside PGI.
The source said the two applicants came from the Government and Hospital Medical College (GMCH), sector 32, 10 of various AIIM and one of the prestigious Mayo clinics.

“The search selection committee will be formed to choose candidates after supervision.
It is hoped that the top 10 will be included after matching their feasibility and criteria,” said an official at the Ministry of Health and family welfare.
For the first time, some candidates have been nominated for the post.

Also, 36% of candidates who have registered are not from the Institute.
“Usually, the majority of those who register are in-house.
In previous years, there were several candidates who were not from PGI,” said an official at the Ministry.
Two former Director of the Institute, Dr.
Jagat Ram and Dr.
Yogesh Chawla, came from PGI, while before them, Dr.
K K Talwar came from AIIMS, Delhi.
“There was a lot of reform during Talwar’s term as he initiated many new projects that change the face of PGI,” said a faculty member in PGI.
Also, this time most senior faculty members who have three to four years remaining for retirement have also implemented.
The term director is five years or until retirement, which is earlier.
Last year, the selection of directors takes almost a year and a former director who has four years of service remaining selected.
The application must be screened by the committee that will examine the application and the election must be made after interviews with the search and selection committee.
The top three names were sent to the cabinet promise committee led by the Prime Minister.
