Chandigarh: With the aim of vaccinating the entire city population (adults who qualified above 18 years) before the third wave of Covid-19 which is possible, the UT government plans to hold special camps for transgender people.
The UT Social Welfare Department, in relation to the UT Health Department, will identify several locations in the city based on the population of transgender people and therefore hold special camps.
There are around 1,500 transgender people here qualify for covid vaccination.
Nitika Pawar, Secretary, Social Welfare Welfare Welfare and Child Development, said, “We, together with the UT Health Department, will include transgender populations.
In some cases, they are not advanced for vaccination, therefore the department will reach them.
In a few days upcoming, special camps will be held for 1,500 of them.
“” Recently, we also hold special camps for people with disabilities, senior citizens and caregivers.
In the last 20 days, we have vaccinated more than 6,200 people From these categories.
The department will continue to hold this camp in the coming days too, “he added.
Dr.
Amandeep Kang, the Director of UT Health Services, said, “So far, 79.32% of the qualified Chandigarh population has been given a dose, while around 22.17% is fully vaccinated.”
