Bengaluru: Chikkalasandra residents, outside Katriguppe, South Bengaluru, alleged that 400 of them were sick after drinking Borewell water for the past 15 days.
Hundreds of them must be treated for food poisoning and dehydration.
They suspect groundwater contamination due to water seepage from the water channel.
Ten apartments with 1,000 flats were affected.
Six hundred flats are in one apartment complex.
The population gets water transported by a tanker from the outside.
“The water is black and has many particles.
We got a sample of water from Borewell 1,100 feet checked with local geologists and found any contamination with a depth of 85-ft and the other at 600 feet.
The BWSSB officer visited our place to check.
We suspect the seepage drain water Cause contamination, “said NP Srinivas from Yashoda Tranclave Apartment.
“Every apartment has its own Borgell and everything seems contaminated with wastewater.
We get Cauvery water, but it’s not enough and therefore, we depend on Borewells,” Sunil said, a resident of Athens apartments.
“Initially, the water began to smell bad.
We thought there might be a problem with the cleaning of the tank.
At night, my daughter complained of stomach pain and began to vomit.
We took her to the hospital and after a few hours, my brother’s health deteriorated.
I have to be hospitalized Pain in the middle of the night, “said Jyothi Krishna from Sannidhi’s apartment.
Bengaluru Mla South Krishnappa, accompanied by BBMP and BWSSB officials, visited the apartment on Sunday.
“According to officials, if there is a leak of waste water, it should have been entered through the water line.
It seems more than 100 feet of ground water contaminated.
I have instructed the official to check the cause.
They will start working tomorrow,” Krishnappa.
said.
BBMP South Health Officer Shiva Kumar said they did not have information about the incident.
“Maybe this happens in the apartment and residents treated themselves.
