Dharowali (Gurdaspur): Following the Announcement of Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday that the Government has decided to reopen the Kartarpur Sahib corridor from Wednesday, Minister Punjab Chararjit Singh Channi will lead the entire cabinet to pay compliance at Gurdwara Darbar Sahib, Kartarpur Sahib, Pakistan at 18 November.
Shah has tweeted, “In a big decision, which will benefit a large number of Sikh pilgrims, PM @Narendramodi The government has decided to reopen the Kartarpur Sahib corridor starting tomorrow, November 17.
This decision reflects the massive respect of Modi Govt to Shri Teacher Nanak Dev Ji And our Sikh community.
“Channi talked about a visit when he came here to attend the function to mark the warning of the death of the former Minister of Punjab and the leader of the Sardar Santokh Singh Randhawa Congress on Tuesday.
The corridor was inaugurated on November 9, 2019, but was temporarily closed on March 16, 2020, as a precautionary measure to contain the spread of the coronavirus.
The government also suspended online registration for Daylong pilgrimage to Gurdwara Kartarpur Sahib which is located about 4.5 km from the international border in Dera Baba Nanak.
On October 2, 2020, the Pakistani government unilaterally announced the opening of the Kartarpur Sahib pilgrimage, but India did not reply.

Members of Pakistan Members Sikh Gurdwara Pardwara (PSGPC) Inderdit Singh members said they were happy with the announcement and would love to welcome the followers of Baba Nanak at the border of Wagah (Pakistan) and in Kartarpur Sahib.
Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) President Bibi Jagir Kaur will lead Jatha to Gurdwara Darbar Sahib, Kartarpur Sahib in November 19.
Speaking with the media in Amritsar, he said SGPC will start ‘Akhand Path in Kartarpur Sahib on November 17, and Bhog will be carried out on November 19.
Referring to his telephone conversation with PSGPC President Amir Singh and former President Bishhan Singh, he said they had assured that all arrangements would exist.
He said SGPC Jatha will also carry Langar material.
