Guwahati: Assam on Wednesday reached a milestone with the completion of the first two doses of the anti-covid vaccine for a 18-plus population.
Two months back on August 7, it has reached the one-crore vaccination target.
The State Health Department said the focus now was on vaccination 10 lakh people who had not received the first shot.
This center has set a November deadline to complete the first dose inoculation of the 18-plus population in the United States.
Chairman of Ministers Himanta Buswa Sarma was very happy with the country’s milestone reached by the country.
“Assam made a history by vaccinging 2 CR (almost inching towards the 100% target) against # Covid19 today.
Be thankful for our health workers for making this campaign a big success,” he tweeted.
Sarma thanked PM Narendra Modi and expressed his gratitude to Him because making Covid vaccination moved the real ‘Janandolan’.
In accordance with the state government, Covid vaccination developed significantly by 95% of the total 18 populations that qualify in the state has received the first dose.
However, as far as concerning the second dose, Assam can vaccinate only about 31% of the target.
Even when the state government has not confirmed the exact number 18 plus people to vaccinate, it will advance with 2.10 crore as a target.
“The excitement is not measurable,” said Minister of Health Keshab Mahanta.
He thanked the doctors, nurses, frontline workers, district health and administrative officials for their sustainable efforts in protecting the community from viruses and vaccinating people who qualified, especially those who live in areas far in the area.
“When the central target is reached in November, we hope that most of the 18 plus populations will be able to get the second dose in February next year,” said Nodal officer from Vaccination Covid-19, Munindra Nath Nathy.
Even when the government said Covid infection had diminished in the state, a total of 347 cases were detected in the state on Tuesday after 42,670 tests.
The latest daily peposititivity level is 0.81%, which the Ministry of Health can be managed.
However, more and more infections in Guwahati have worried the department.
TRUP (Metro) District, where Guwahati came, reported 162 cases on Tuesday.
