Guwahati: Positive Level of Covid-19 Test Assam (TPR) has surged more than seven times, the number of active cases has grown more than eight times and almost 20,000 cases have been reported in the first two weeks of the third wave to Friday.
Also, during this period, 33 people had died and another 5,442 had recovered from infection, which was in house isolation or received at the hospital.
The rapid increase in TPR continued on Saturday which saw it past 9% Mark while 3,390 new cases were added and four people died that day.
According to data from NHM Assam, the state of the state testing (TPR) on January 1 was 0.77% and remained under 1% only for two more days.
On January 9, TPR passed 6% and remained more than 7% since January 13.
The UNI Ministry of Health data shows that in 15 of 33 districts, TPR in the last week (January 8-14), more than 10%, which is above the peak of the current state of 7.87%.
The Chanaideo district has recorded the highest TPR of 31.19% during the week followed by Guwahati with TPR 26.21% and Jorhat with 22.54%.
Twelve districts have shown TPR between 5% and 10% and six remaining districts have recorded TPR under 5% in the past week.
Only Majuli and Baduga districts who recorded TPR less than 3% last week.
TPR is a key metric used to assess the extent to which Covid spread across the geographical area.
According to whom, TPR is less than 5% is an indicator that infection is controlled in a location.
The Daily situation report Assam NHM shows that the case of the average daily state is 1,400 between January 1, is considered the beginning of the third wave in the state, and January 14.
High reporting of everyday case has also encouraged the number of active cases in the country.
According to the Ministry of Health and family welfare, this number has passed with 2,265 on January 1 to 16,614 in two weeks.
