Guwahati: The latest update from the Ministry of Health Union shows Mizoram, Tripura and Arunachal Pradesh appeared better than the national average of 32% in the second dose vaccination coverage.
The second dose coverage of the population estimate has been 58% in Mizoram, which is the highest among NE countries.
Arunachal Pradesh, although difficult terrain, has been inoculating 50% of the estimated population with second jab.
Tripura has been vaccinated 48% of the 18 plus populations with the second dose.
At 96%, Lakshadweep has recorded a second dose coverage of 96% highest.
But even when the center urges the countries and the territory of the union to focus on the second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine for beneficiaries whose interval period has ended, the four countries are lagging behind the national average at the end of last week.
.
Nagaland has a dose coverage of 31% seconds, followed by Assam (30%), Meghalaya (29%) and Manipur (27%).
Among nine Indian countries with the first and second dose coverage (less than the national average), Manipur, Meghalaya and Nagaland come from NE.
On the other hand, in four countries Ne, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya and Nagaland, most of the districts have the second dose coverage of less than 30%.
In Assam, only two districts have crossed a dose of 50% seconds, while in 20 districts, the coverage is less than 30% until last weekend.
In Manipur and Meghalaya, 10 and 7 districts have a coverage of less than 30%.
In Nagaland, seven of the 11 districts have a coverage of less than 30%.
“This center has asked the state to take advantage of the list of beneficiaries to prepare a wise second-dose administration plan.
It must be done on time,” said a health department official.
He added that the center also asked the countries to complete the first dose coverage of all 18+ people in November to accelerate the vaccination of the second dose.
Head of Minister of Assam Himanta Buswa Sarma on Monday appealed to citizens of 10 to 12 lakh countries that were not vaccinated to get the first dose with urgency.
He, however, put aside the possibility of locking in the state and clarified that there was no alarming surge in Covid cases.
Assam still reported more than 300 Covid cases every day, except for Sundays.
“We don’t want to be kuncian again and it won’t be worn.
But everyone must get both doses on time,” he said.
