Chandigarh: Continuing with an increase in Covid infection that has seen a damaged record every day, the city on Friday reaches a new high of 1,834 cases.
There are two deaths too.
One of the victims was a 44-year-old man who lived near the evening shelter, the transportation area, sector 26.
He was taken dead to the Government Multi-Special Hospital, Sector 16.
He was tested positive after his death.
He is an alcoholic, suffering from diabetes and kidney disease.
He was not vaccinated for Covid.
The second victim was a 50-year-old woman from sector 32.
She was also taken dead to the medical and hospital government, sector 32.
He had hypertension and was fully vaccinated.
“The peak will reach in a few days in the city.
It is expected that cases will cross 2,000 and then there will be curve smoothing.
The maximum case is reinfection and breakthrough (infection after vaccination),” said a public health expert.
“The concern is an increase in the number of deaths.
Except for one patient who is not vaccinated and the others are vaccinated, all those who die are truly immunized.
But they all have co-morbidity too,” he added.
Chandigarh has recorded seven deaths and 8,580 cases in two weeks.
The level of pepositives on Friday is 25.21%, while the weekly average positivity is 20.72%.
The active case was 7257.
A total of 391 patients under house isolation were dismissed on Friday.
The recovery rate was reduced to 88.7% from 98% last month.
As many as 303 patients were under oxygen support in various hospitals and covid mini care centers, while 29 patients were in the ventilator.
The confirmed case was 74,475, including 1,086 deaths.
