The doctor said that while many patients were detected with cancer at a very early stage thanks to CT scans for Covid, others have their care delayed a few months due to misdiagnosis
Thanks to the CT scan carried out to detect Covid-19, many patients were diagnosed with cancer, because scanning took cancer lumps.
However, many others – especially those in rural areas – who go to health care facilities are not diagnosed and treated for covid, pneumonia, and even TB.
As a result, patients in the third stage and their four cancer now appear in hospitals.
Dr.
Niti Raizada, Director – Medical and Hemato-Oncology oncology, Fortis Hospital, said: “Lung cancer has the highest death rate and delaying treatment will only reduce survival opportunities.
If detected and treated at the initial stage, people can live a normal life Like others but if they come to us in stage 3 and 4, it becomes difficult for them and the survival rate also goes down.

Raizada said that recently, a 70-year-old patient from rural areas experiencing symptoms since April, has undergone a CT scan that was wrongly diagnosed as Covid-19 and was being treated for it.
“The doctor who treated him could not detect cancer through scanning and suspected it was tuberculosis for the second time.
Because he continued to have symptoms, they consulted a different doctor who treated him for pneumonia for several weeks until they contacted me in the first week of August.
Every oncologist or expert can easily detect cancer in CT scan but because of the lack of health infrastructure right in their village, the treatment is delayed for more than four months, “he said.
Dr.
Ravindra Mehta, senior pulmonology, Apollo Hospital, and members of the Covid-19 Duty Committee, said that there were three scenarios seen during the pandemic that affected and also helped some patients.
“There are many people who ignore the symptoms and do not visit a doctor or are afraid to go to the hospital until it’s too late.
In some cases, care is postponed because of the lack of health care facilities and lack of expert opinion.
“In both scenarios, people have arrived at the hospital during the 3rd stage of cancer where the survival rate is only 50 percent.
However, many people while undergoing CT scans for Covid are detected with lung cancer in the early stages and immediately start treatment.
Which increases their survival rate and ensures fast recovery.
“According to Dr.
Vijay Agarwal, Main Consultant – Medical Oncology, Aster Hospital, CT Scan has become routine in patients with Covid-19.
“After this exercise, we see a lot of patients with cancer taken.
CT scans are carried out for Covid-19 identifying lumps of cancer in it.
The most common type of cancer that we identify is lung cancer, liver cancer, pancreatic cancer and kidney cancer.”
How can you detect cancer early? Doctors say that if people have genetic history of cancer, they need to consult a doctor in an opinion.
Those who are exposed to air pollution at work need to be examined regularly when they become more susceptible to lung cancer.
People whose chronic smokers are susceptible to lung cancer and if they feel discomfort in breathing or other symptoms, they must immediately go for scanning.
