Haveri: After an older RS 1,000 currency record with a circulation, the Bank of India’s reserve (RBI) has issued orders where the bank is asked to ensure that the records that are insulted or dropped do not release both at the counter and ATM kiosks.
However, customers withdraw cash at ATM kiosks in the Haveri district get a lot of such notes.
Even worse, these people struggle to use this for transactions because most private companies refuse to accept it.
In fact, many customers state that even banks refuse to exchange this note.
Rumors of records that have anything written on them, not legal tenders circulated on social media portals, which leads to many shop owners refusing to accept it.
Haveri City Resident Praveen MuliMani remembered his experience about the shop owner refused to receive Rs 500 notes that had something crossed.
“I have attracted cash from an ATM, and when my record was rejected in the shops, I went to the bank to ask them to exchange.
Initially, the bank refused to accept the record, claiming that the record was not issued by their ATMs..

He added that he had to bear waiting for 18 months to get a new record as a substitute for being crossed out.
“Banks must be careful and ensure that the records that change color or have something written on them are not stored at the ATM kiosk,” MuliMani added.
Chetan, who worked in a nationalized bank branch in Haveri, confirmed that they had received complaints from customers about such notes distributed to the ATM kiosk.
“But the responsibility to deposit money on the ATM kiosk is entrusted to private companies, so we are not part of the process.
But we will direct these companies to not upload the records dropped since then,” he said.
Haveri District Lead Bank Manager Prabhudev said, “There are two private institutions entrusted by depositing cash to ATM kiosks.
We will send them reminders about the records stored, and if complaints occur, the notification will be issued for the agency.”
