CHANDIGARH: The transmissible Delta version of coronavirus was seen in 61 percent of 25 saved positive samples which PGI delivered from May 5 to 24 into National Centre for Disease Control, New Delhi, for complete genome sequencing.
The Alpha version was found in 31 percent of these samples.
“The vast majority of those samples (92 percent ) belonged to Chandigarh inhabitants.
Hence delta has been the primary circulating strain through the next wave of Covid from town,” explained Prof Jagat Ram, manager, PGI.
A total of 80 percent of individuals that had perished of Covid harboured the Alpha anxiety.
“Luckily, no event of Delta and version was reported from the samples delivered,” explained Prof G D Puri, dean (professors ), PGI.

It is going to also assist in making necessary arrangements for kids as according to some specialists, they are at greater risk through the next wave” The serosurvey will soon be conducted by a group from virology and Faculty of Public Health, PGI, under the oversight of Vitamin Puri.
There’ll be more house-to-house visits according to study protocol.
