CHANDIGARH: Former additional advocate general Haryana, Ravinder Singh Dhull, has been appointed as legal advisor of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP).
A formal letter in this regard has been issued by Aftab Ahmad, deputy leader, CLP, Haryana on Thursday.
Dhull is a practising lawyer of the Punjab and Haryana high court.
In October last year, he had resigned from the coveted post of additional advocate general Haryana in protest of three agriculture laws of the central government.
His father, Parminder Singh Dhull has represented the Julana assembly seat as MLA in the Haryana Vidhan Sabha from 2009 to 2019.
His grandfather, Dal Singh Dhull was Haryana’s first irrigation and power minister.
Dal Singh had also served as a member of PEPSU legislative assembly and Punjab state legislative assembly, when Punjab and Haryana were joint and Haryana legislative assembly till 1977.
He had served as an MLA seven times both in Punjab and Haryana.
Ravinder Singh Dhull had filed several petitions before the Punjab and Haryana high court that led to the passing of several important judicial orders.
He had filed the public interest litigation (PIL) before the Punjab and Haryana high court regarding the gathering of Dera Sacha Sauda followers at Panchkula before the verdict against Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh in rape cases in August 2017.
It was only after his PIL, the HC ordered the deployment of additional security forces from the Centre to save Panchkula city from violence.
