Chandigarh: The president of the Punjab Congress Navjot Singh Sidhu started a virtual party campaign on Sunday in accordance with the Guidelines for the Election Commission (EC) and shared the Governance Reform Agenda, especially through digitization and making ‘Digital Punjab’.
Congress has emphasized the importance of digitizing and maintaining virtual interactions with voters, claiming Sidhu.
“Our social media war room already has more than 10,000 WhatsApp groups and we reach people at the booth level through Facebook, WhatsApp, and other digital facilities,” he added.
“This is the need for hours to decentralize strength by empowering Panchayats and other local bodies, and ensuring that their function is digitized.
It is often forgotten that Panchayat has the power to carry out 170 functions and collect 12 different taxes,” Sidhu said.
“Today Punjab requires governance reforms that translate public problems into policies, with poverty reduction strategies,” he added.
Sidhu said the mafia worked in Punjab and the money was never expelled from the mafia bag that should have entered public bags.
Explaining ‘Punjab Model’ through a virtual press conference, Sidhu said it was not a personal or selfish model but the model of the Punjab people.
“This is a solution made specifically for problems that are common in Punjab made after intensive research is carried out in the state and functioning to restore power to people,” he said.
“The Punjab Congress will immediately pave the way for the Punjab people through the ‘WhatsApp Service’ to provide their input to the ‘Punjab Model’ and seek clarification.” “We aim to make ‘Digital Punjab’ where more than 150 government services, permissions and approval will be available for people in front of their door.
This revolution is intended to begin with the first of the type of ‘digital selection’ planned to be held at Punjab and paved the way to digitize for all other activities to move further, “Sidhu said.
