Silchar: The Christmas event at Silchar Assam was disturbed by several criminals, demanding that Hindus must avoid celebrations.
According to the police, seven people were involved in the incident that occurred on Saturday night has been detained so far.
“The incident occurred during the Christmas celebration in an open field in the city,” said Ramandeep Kaur, Cachar supervisor from the police.
“Some boys went to the venue and asked other Hindus not to participate in the celebration.
They did not object to Christians celebrating the opportunity,” he said.
Kaur further said the police had not received complaints about the incident, even though the young men were detained.
“We’re looking at the incident.
We don’t have input about any group’s involvement so far,” SP was added.
However, local residents claim criminals are associated with Bajrang Dal.
According to eyewitness reports, the young men wore a turmeric scarf and shouted ‘Jai Shri Ram’ when they began to persecute the people present at the Venue.
The incident occurred around 9pm when the place was crowded with people from across the city who joined the celebration.
Many people are busy taking selfies and photos, when the problem starts.
When the revelers questioned the youth about why they objected to the celebration, the criminals were reported to notify them that as Hinduism they had to celebrate ‘Tulsi Diawas’ which coincided with Christmas Day.
