Bengaluru: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanaagara Palike (BBMP) sent the doctors to the doorsteps to examine and monitor them for the symptoms and comorbidity of Covid-19 under the ‘Ibundy Vaidyaru Nimma Nimma Mane Bagilige’ program.
The doctor who made a door-to-door visit will also provide health advice to the family.
This effort is part of the steps to remain ready for the possibility of a third wave of infection.
Bengaluru is a infection hotspot for the first two waves of pandemic.
Itikik plans to launch initiatives in phases.
In the first phase, 54 wards – two wards from each of the 28 assembly constituencies in the city – have been selected.
Exercise starts on Monday.
“We will be able to immediately understand whether the initiative must be taken in three phases or whether we will need the fourth.
This will depend on the feedback we received after the first two phases,” said Gaurav Gupta, Head of the BBMP commissioner.
Five teams have been formed to explore every ward and each team will have five members including medical officers (MBBS / BDS / Ayush) and paramedics.
Each team must survey at least 50 houses every day.
The doctors on each team will wear a white apron with ‘Puee Vaidyaru Nimma Mane Bagilige’ clearly on it, and each team will be given to the vehicle to help them move.
If someone is found Covid-19 positive during the visit of the team’s house, he will be given a home isolation kit from the local primary health center.
“In terms of any symptoms, our medical officers will make a point to test the citizens and provide medical advice accordingly,” Gupta added.
Gupta continued said, “This initiative is basically to assess people’s health.
To start, it will be limited to 54 wards that have been chosen.
We will cover the rest of the environment in time.
The idea is to understand the health profile, comorbidity, vaccination status, besides being convincing They that there is no reason for all kinds of panic.
