Guwahati: Civil and Police Administration in Biswanath Regency Assam has decided to drop people at home if their driver is drunk at the new year party.
Drivers, however, cannot use the facilities and have to spend the rest of the night at the police station.
This is part of the guard in all states by the state government about driving drinks to prevent road accidents.
Assam CM Himanta Buswa Sarma had vowed not to let one death on the crash because of driving drinks during the new year celebration.
According to the state transportation department, more than 6,000 accidents on the road have occurred since January 1 where more than 2,500 loses their lives.
Sp (biswanath) Leenena Doley said, “People will celebrate the night of December 31 and if people in the vehicle feel that they are not safe traveling back home because their drunk drunk, they can call two help channel numbers and seek help to drop their home.

Three vehicles will be available at the Biswanath police station, each of two vehicles at the Gohpur and Sootea police station, respectively at the Jinjian police station, Helem and Behali.
